Weitek 1164/1165

Weitek 1164/1165 chip set consists of two FPU chips:
  • 1164 - 64-bit IEEE floating point multiplier.
  • 1165 - 64-bit IEEE ALU.

The chips require additional hardware to implement address decoding, register memory, etc.

Computers
Sun 4/110, 4/150, 4/260, 4/280. The co-processors were also used in a floating point accelerator "FPA Plus" for Sun 3 computers.
