AMD 29040 (Am29040) microprocessor family

AMD 29040 (Am29040) is a 32-bit embedded RISC microprocessor fully compatible with other members of AMD 29K microprocessor family. The 29040 offers higher performance than AMD 29030/29035 CPUs due to the following improvements in its architecture:

• 4 KB on-chip data cache,
• Fast integer 32-bit hardware multiplier,
• Enhanced memory management unit,
• faster clock speeds with optional clock-doubling feature.

The 29040 also includes multiprocessor support. The Am29040 microprocessors were manufactured in the same ceramic PGA and plastic QFP packages as the AMD 29030 and 29035.
