Found this in a set top box DVD Player (located on the decoder board).

The DVD player i found this one in is a Cyberhome AD-M212 or AD-M512 (they're basically the same unit. only difference: the M512 has 5.1 output connectors, the M212 doesn't have those)
my guess why they used this CPU is the following:
this DVD player uses a standard PC IDE DVD-ROM drive. so i guess it has been used as an "allround CPU/controller" which handles everything the C-Cube MPEG Decoder chip isn't capable of (IDE interface, caching, ...)
this would also explain the 2 memory chips (EDO ?) above the 186 (one of them visible in the picture)
