Intel 80376 processor familyIntel 80376 (i376) is a 32-bit embedded microprocessor based on Intel
80386 microarchitecture. Functionally, the i376 is very close to Intel
80386SX CPU. Like the 80386SX, the 80376 has 16-bit data bus and
24-bit address bus. The processor has full set of 80386 registers and
includes all 80386 instructions. 80387 instructions are supported
with the help of optional 80387SX numeric co-processor. The 376
operates only in 32-bit protected mode and doesn't support other
modes present in 80386SX and 80386DX microprocessors. The processor
has memory management unit (MMU) that provides logical address
translation and protection, but doesn't support paging. As a result,
the i376 CPU cannot run any x86 real-mode programs or programs that
require paging, but can run 32-bit 80386 programs when paging is not
required. All programs designed for the 80376 can be executed on the
80386SX/80386DX CPUs without any changes. Performance of the 80376
microprocessor is on a par with 80386SX running at the same
frequency.
