AMD 8085 microprocessor family

AMD was an authorized second-source of Intel 8085 microprocessors. According to Jerry Sanders, CEO of AMD, Intel approached AMD to second-source Intel 8085A microprocessors because Intel was loosing market to Zilog Z80.

Like Intel, AMD produced both NMOS and HMOS variations of 8085. The AMD 8085A and 8085AH CPUs were fabricated in ceramic and plastic DIP packages with speed grades 3 and 5 MHz. AMD marked their 8085 microprocessors the same way as Intel.
