FAQ
Q: I have an Intel Atom Z2460 microprocessor. Can I upgrade it?
A: No. BGA microprocessors, like this one, are soldered on a motherboard, for that reason upgrading or replacing them is extremely difficult.

News
Atom Z2420 and Z2480 are in the works
Oct 10, 2012: In January Intel launched "Medfield" smartphone platform with
Z2460 "Penwell" system-on-a-chip, that integrated single Atom core.
The processor supported such performance enhancement technologies as
Hyper-Threading and Burst Performance (BPT), and so far it has been
used in a few smartphones, such as XOLO X90 and Lenovo K800. Atom Z2610 was
the second "Penwell" chip, planned for the Q2 2012.
First Intel smartphone launched
Apr 19, 2012: Intel and Lava International Ltd today announced availability of the world's first Intel powered smartphone, the XOLO X900. The partnership was first announced at Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona, in Feb 2012. The XOLO X900 is the first smartphone to be powered by an Intel Atom processor. It will be released first in India.
Intel Announce Details of New Atom Smartphones
Feb 28, 2012: At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, on Feb 27, Intel announced details of some new Atom based products from their partners, including a Smartphone from Orange based on the Atom Z2460 Processor reference design. They also announced the Atom Z2580 processor, although details of that are still pretty vague.
