Intel Mobile Celeron P4600 - CP80617005307AB
Specifications
Mobile Celeron P4600 is based on 32nm Westmere, or enhanced Nehalem,
microarhitecture, and features mobile Arrandale core. The CPU package
integrates two cores, running at 2 GHz each, DDR3 memory controller,
and graphics controller clocked at 500 MHz. Each CPU core includes 64
KB level 1 and 256 KB level 2 caches, and both cores share 2 MB level
3 cache. The CPU supports common features like 64-bit instruction set,
Execute Disable bit, and Virtualization technology, but doesn't
incorporate any advanced Arrandale features. The processor uses no
more than 35 Watt of power, and is packaged in 988-pin micro-PGA
package, that works in socket 988 motherboards. This type of package
makes it easy to replace or upgrade the CPU, although unassembling the
notebook to get access to the CPU in some cases may present a real
problem. As of now (beginning of September 2010) the processor is not
released yet. The Celeron is anticipated to arrive in September
priced at $86 in quantities of 1000. At this time only two laptops,
Fujitsu LIFEBOOK S710 and S760, show support for this CPU.
Compared to previous Celeron model P4500, based on the same core, the
4600 offers 7% faster cores frequency, while having the same
microprocessor features. Higher frequency should translate to about 3% -
5% performance improvement over the P4500. When compared to Pentium
P6100, which is going to be launched at the same time frame as the
P4600, the Celeron will have slightly lower performance due to smaller
size of L3 cache, but, owning to included Virtualization technology,
will be faster in applications that run programs or operating systems
in a virtual environment.

Intel discontinues mobile processors
Apr 19, 2012: This week Intel published three Product change Notifications,
advising its customer of forthcoming discontinuation of several mobile
processors. All retired processors are from Westemere group of
families, built on 32nm technology. 6 OEM microprocessors, including
P4600, P6100, P6200, P6300, Core i3-370M and i3-390M will be
end-of-lifed on October 16, 2012, and their last shipment date is
April 16, 2013. In addition to OEM chips, Intel is planning to retire
boxed Core i5-520M, i5-540M, i5-560M and i5-580M CPUs. Their last
order (EOL) date is October 19, 2012, and they will be shipped until
January 18.
Intel launches new Core i7, Core i5 and Celeron mobile CPUs
Sep 26, 2010: Eight Core i7, Core i5 and Celeron branded microprocessors were
added today by Intel to the price list. The new processors are aimed
at budget and high-performance mobile markets, and include standard-,
low- and ultra-low power models. The cheapest new CPUs, Celerons T3500
and P4600, are priced below $100, while more powerful models with
HyperThreading, Turbo Boost and Vpro features cost as much as $346.
Mobile Celeron P4600 and T3500 CPUs are around the corner
Aug 29, 2010: In the third quarter 2010, Intel is planning to release another
wave of standard- and low-power mobile microprocessors. As part of
this launch, Intel will present two budget CPUs - Mobile Celerons
T3500 and P4600. We compiled known information about these
microprocessors, and added recently discovered data such as part and
S-Spec numbers, and what laptops these processors will be shipped in.
Future Intel mobile CPUs spotted in notebooks
Jul 23, 2010: As you may already know from publications on our and other
hardware news sites, in the third and forth quarters of this year
Intel will launch the next wave of mobile Arrandale-based CPUs: Core
i7-640M, Core i5 models i5-560M and i5-580M, Celeron P4600, as well as
Penryn-based Celeron T3500. Yesterday we reported on two other
models that maybe launched at about the same time: Core i3-380M and
Core i5-460M.
Prices for Intel desktop and mobile CPUs in Q3 2010
Jul 05, 2010: In two recent news stories, Digitimes posted updated roadmap of
Intel microprocessors for the third quarter of 2010. The roadmap
covers high-performance and budget markets of desktop and mobile CPUs.
