Core Duo T2050 is the slowest Core Duo microprocessor in micro-PGA package. The CPU is clocked at 1.6 GHz, and has 533 MHz Front Side Bus frequency. Other processor features are consistent features of other Core Duo CPUs: dual-core design with both cores located on one die, 64 KB level 1 cache per core, 2 MB level 2 cache shared between two cores, and streaming SIMD extensions up to SSE3. The T2050 also incorporates disable-execute bit, that, when supported by operating system, prevents from certain types of viruses and Trojan programs. The processor is manufactured only in micro-PGA (socket M) package.

If you're looking to upgrade your Intel Core Duo T2050 microprocessor then there is a very good chance you'll be able to do it. At the very least you can upgrade to Core Duo T2450, which is based on the same Yonah core, and runs at the same FSB as the T2050. It's likely that you can upgrade to faster Core Duo microprocessor with 667 MHz FSB. To confirm this you will need to use programs like CPU-Z or Intel Chipset Identification Utility to determine type of motherboard chipset in your laptop, and then check whether this chipset supports 667 MHz FSB frequency or not. If your chipset supports 667 Mhz FSB then, as a minimum, you can upgrade to Core Duo T2600 or T2700. But that's not all. There is still a chance that your laptop will support even faster Core 2 Duo processors. Again, search on the net for CPU support list for your motherboard chipset and see if it supports Core 2 Duo, or Merom, CPUs. If it supports them then the fastest Core 2 Duo for your notebook will be Core 2 Duo T7600. Depending on the type of applications you're running on your notebook, you can expect from the T7600 microprocessor performance gain in the range 40% - 100%.
