News

Apr 19, 2012: This week Intel published three Product change Notifications, advising its customer of forthcoming discontinuation of several mobile processors. All retired processors are from Westemere group of families, built on 32nm technology. 6 OEM microprocessors, including P4600, P6100, P6200, P6300, Core i3-370M and i3-390M will be end-of-lifed on October 16, 2012, and their last shipment date is April 16, 2013. In addition to OEM chips, Intel is planning to retire boxed Core i5-520M, i5-540M, i5-560M and i5-580M CPUs. Their last order (EOL) date is October 19, 2012, and they will be shipped until January 18.

Jan 23, 2011: This month was very busy for Intel. On January 4th, Intel announced large number of new desktop and mobile processors, including a few OEM-only models. On January 9, Intel officially released Core i5 and Core i7-branded desktop CPUs, along with quad-core mobile microprocessors. On the same day from Intel's pricelist we learned about a few mobile CPUs built on older Westmere and Penryn technologies. It's been two weeks after the official launch, and a few more mobile CPUs emerged on Intel website. These are Core i5-480M and Core i3-390M, and two mobile Pentium models, U5600 and P6300. Intel also launched Core i7-2630QM and i7-2635QM Sandy Bridge parts.

Dec 22, 2010: In less than a month Intel is going to introduce a brand-new Sandy Bridge micro-architecture by launching a variety of CPUs from server, desktop, and mobile market segments. At about the same time Intel will refresh a few mobile families with new models, based on older technology. We expect that Intel will release at least 6 new mobile microprocessors based on enhanced Nehalem and Core microarchitectures. So far we reported on two of them, dual-core Celeron U3600 and Core i5-480M. Two other unannounced mobile processors, Pentium Mobile P6300 and Core i3-390M, recently surfaced in several ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo notebooks.
