News

Sep 05, 2011: Last month we reported that in September Intel is going to cut prices of energy-efficient desktop microprocessors from second-generation Core i5 and i7 families. Expected price reductions were minor, $12 at most. Yesterday Intel launched 16 new desktop and mobile CPUs, and revised the prices of all mid- and low-power "S" and "T" processors.

Aug 16, 2011: This fall, Intel plans to refresh desktop mid-class and budget families with seven new models. The new processors are Core i5-2320, Core i3-2130, i3-2125 and i3-2120T, and Pentium G860, G630 and G630T. Details of these CPUs, as well as prices for some of them, were known for months. In a related move, Intel is going to drop prices on selected Sandy Bridge SKUs.

Feb 21, 2011: With the introduction of Sandy Bridge micro-architecture last month, Intel launched quite a number of quad-core desktop and mobile models, marketed as second-generation Core CPUs. Today, Intel followed up with the release of more than 10 new dual-core Sandy Bridge processors for desktop and mobile markets. A list of newly released models is available in updated price list. Like in January, today's launch includes a mix of mainstream SKUs, and low and ultra-low voltage parts.

Feb 11, 2011: With the impending release of new Sandy Bridge microprocessors later this month, we decided to take a look at the upcoming models. Based on information, published by Intel, in February Intel will launch three models from Core i3 family. According to reports from other hardware news sites, Intel may also introduce Core i7 Extreme Edition i7-990X.

Jan 06, 2011: On Monday, Intel announced new "2nd generation Core" desktop and mobile microprocessors, based on Sandy Bridge micro-architecture. The same day many hardware news sites published reviews of Sandy Bridge processors, and the universal conclusion was "yes, it's faster and better". Today Intel updated ARK database with details on all new models.

Dec 02, 2010: While specifications of many Sandy Bridge desktop microprocessors were known for quite some time, since July of this year, prices and release dates of these models were unknown until last week. At the end of November Expreview revealed prices and launch dates of all Sandy Bridge-based desktop models. Expreview also published specifications of Pentium CPUs, that will be introduced in February and in the second quarter 2011.
