Intel Core i5-560M Mobile processor (CP80617005487AA / BX80617I5560M)

Specifications

Core i5-560M is one of the two standard voltage Core i5 Mobile microprocessors planned for the forth quarter 2010. Based on the same Arrandale core, as all other Core i5 Mobile CPUs, the 560M integrates two CPU cores and shared 3MB level 3 cache on a single die. Under normal operating conditions the dual-core 560M runs at 2.66 GHz frequency, which with the help of Turbo Boost technology may be raised to 3.2 GHz for single-threaded applications. Integrated Hyperthreading technology allows this CPU to execute up to 4 threads simultaneously. Graphics controller, located on-package, but separately from two CPU cores, will run at 500 MHz, and could be temporarily boosted to 766 MHz. Memory controller, located on the same die as the graphics controller, supports DDR3-800 and DDR3-1066 memory. Combined Thermal Design Power of the Intel Core i5-560M for the CPU cores and graphics / memory controllers is 35 Watt. TDP should be lower for systems that do not utilize integrated graphics controller. The i5-560M is manufactured in micro-PGA package that works in socket 988. Intel will also manufacture micro-BGA version of the mobile Core i5-560M model.

News

Apr 19, 2012: This week Intel published three Product change Notifications, advising its customer of forthcoming discontinuation of several mobile processors. All retired processors are from Westemere group of families, built on 32nm technology. 6 OEM microprocessors, including P4600, P6100, P6200, P6300, Core i3-370M and i3-390M will be end-of-lifed on October 16, 2012, and their last shipment date is April 16, 2013. In addition to OEM chips, Intel is planning to retire boxed Core i5-520M, i5-540M, i5-560M and i5-580M CPUs. Their last order (EOL) date is October 19, 2012, and they will be shipped until January 18.

Sep 26, 2010: Eight Core i7, Core i5 and Celeron branded microprocessors were added today by Intel to the price list. The new processors are aimed at budget and high-performance mobile markets, and include standard-, low- and ultra-low power models. The cheapest new CPUs, Celerons T3500 and P4600, are priced below $100, while more powerful models with HyperThreading, Turbo Boost and Vpro features cost as much as $346.

Jul 23, 2010: As you may already know from publications on our and other hardware news sites, in the third and forth quarters of this year Intel will launch the next wave of mobile Arrandale-based CPUs: Core i7-640M, Core i5 models i5-560M and i5-580M, Celeron P4600, as well as Penryn-based Celeron T3500. Yesterday we reported on two other models that maybe launched at about the same time: Core i3-380M and Core i5-460M.

Jul 05, 2010: In two recent news stories, Digitimes posted updated roadmap of Intel microprocessors for the third quarter of 2010. The roadmap covers high-performance and budget markets of desktop and mobile CPUs.

Jun 03, 2010: Two weeks ago we posted "Specifications of upcoming Intel Mobile microprocessors" story, and commented on a not-yet-released Pentium P6000 microprocessor. We were able to locate part and S-spec numbers for this CPU. We also found part numbers for Intel Core i5-560M model, which is planned for the fourth quarter of this year.
