Prices of upcoming Ivy Bridge desktop CPUs
May 21, 2012: First desktop Intel Core i7 and i5 processors with Ivy Bridge (IVB) core were rolled out less than a month ago, and more of these parts will be coming in two weeks. Specifications of forthcoming models were known for quite some time, but the prices were revealed only last Friday. DigiTimes reported that upcoming Core i5 microprocessors will be priced from $184 to $205. DigiTimes also provided $177 - $138 price range for IVB-based Core i3 chips, coming in the third quarter. We were able to confirm this information, and we can also provide slightly more details about prices of Ivy Bridge CPUs.

Revised Ivy Bridge launch schedule confirmed
Mar 27, 2012: Ivy Bridge launch was delayed twice. First time it slipped from the first to the second quarter 2012, and then it was delayed by another two weeks. Current launch date for desktop Ivy Bridge CPUs is set on April 29, which was confirmed by two different sources, Sweclockers and Donanimhaber. That still left us in the dark in regards to mobile processors, due to rumors that their launch was pushed back until June. After seeing recent desktop and mobile roadmaps we can confirm that both desktop and mobile IB chips will be released at the same time.

Launch schedule of Ivy Bridge processors
Feb 23, 2012: As was widely reported before, Ivy Bridge microarchitecture, and the first CPUs based on it, will be launched in April. Last week Digitimes relayed rumors about possible delay of Ivy Bridge processors. Last Sunday VR-Zone confirmed that Ivy Bridge dual-core mobile chips have been delayed due to Intel and OEMs being overstocked with Sandy Bridge microprocessors. While we don't have the latest data on Ivy Bridge launch dates, and cannot confirm the delay, we do have about a month old information at hand, that should be mostly correct.

Details of Ivy Bridge Core i3 CPUs leaked
Feb 15, 2012: One of the most anticipated events of the year will be the launch of Ivy Bridge micro-architecture and related products. The first Ivy Bridge "third-generation" processors will be introduced in April, and more products will follow in the second and third quarters. Details of upcoming Core i5 and i7 CPUs were revealed last November, and slides with specifications of more budget-oriented Core i3 chips were leaked this week by Zol.com.cn.

Prices of Ivy Bridge desktop CPUs
Dec 19, 2011: Ivy Bridge micro-architecture, planned for the second quarter 2012, will bring a number of enhancements to CPU and graphics portions of the chip. The CPU cores will feature up to 15%, sometimes even higher performance due to micro-architecture improvements and 100 MHz - 300 MHz higher Turbo Boost frequencies. HD 4000 and HD 2500 graphics will add support for DirectX 11, and it will be considerably faster than current HD 3000 and HD 2000 on-chip graphics. What's more important, better performing Ivy Bridge CPUs will come with 20% lower Thermal Design Power. It's great that upcoming CPUs will run cooler and faster, but at what price? Based on pricing information, that we've seen, desktop Ivy Bridge SKUs will have prices, in most cases identical to Sandy Bridge predecessors.

Ivy Bridge desktop CPU lineup details, part II
Nov 27, 2011: Today we published details of upcoming Ivy Bridge microprocessors, that were leaked by Zol.com.cn news site. As soon as we published the story, we discovered that more detailed list of Ivy Bridge models was leaked by corescn website.

Ivy Bridge desktop CPU lineup details
Nov 27, 2011: In the second quart 2012, Intel is going to introduce 22nm shrink of Sandy Bridge micro-architecture, codenamed Ivy Bridge. As we previously reported, initial launch will include Core i5 and Core i7 desktop microprocessors, along with Core i7 mobile models. Processor numbers and some details of desktop Core i5s and Core i7s were revealed this week by Zol.com.cn.
