Intel Core i5-750S - BV80605003213AH / BX80605I5750S
Specifications
Core i5-750S is the first Core i5 quad-core desktop microprocessor with lower thermal Design Power (TDP). Besides lower TDP, the processor has lower clock frequency, more than 30% higher price, slightly higher maximum operating temperature, the same maximum frequency in Turbo Boost mode and the same set of features as Core i5-750 CPU. It seems that 15% lower TDP of this CPU was achieved primarily by reducing CPU frequency. Because power dissipation is directly proportional to CPU operating frequency, reducing frequency by 11% reduces TDP by the same amount. To summarize differences from i5-750, the i5-750S offers 15% lower TDP at 32% price premium while providing up to 11% lower performance. This is quite different from energy-efficient Core 2 Quad processors, which offered much lower TDP than mainstream processors at the same performance level. For example, Core 2 Quad Q9400S had 46% lower TDP and the same performance as Q9400, though it was priced about 50% higher than the Q9400.

Bits and pieces: AMD FX-8150 at 8.43GHz, Core i7-2700K frequency confirmed
Sep 15, 2011: Earlier this week, in a press release, titled "AMD Showcases
World’s Fastest CPU", AMD announced
new overclocking world record. Not yet released FX-8150 processor
with 6 disabled cores was overclocked to staggering 8.429 GHz by a
team of overclocking specialists working together with AMD engineers.
It's definitely an impressive result, and a great marketing stunt.
