Intel Core i7-660UM Mobile processor - CN80617005187AB
Specifications
Core i7-660UM is a dual-core microprocessor from Core i5 Mobile family of high-performance CPUs. As of May 2010, the Core i7-660UM is the fastest ultra-low voltage (ULV) Core i7 model. This CPU operates at 1.33 GHz, which 133 MHz faster than the i7-640UM, and 266 MHz faster than the i7-620UM. The core frequency is the only difference between ULV i7-6xxUM microprocessors, and all other features are identical. The i7-6XX CPUs are built on 32nm process, and integrate two CPU cores plus 4 MB L3 shared cache on one die, and DDR3 memory controller, Direct Media Interface and graphics controller on a separate die.
The i7-660UM processor incorporates all key and advanced features of Arrandale core. Key features included are 64-bit operating mode, support for SSE4 and older SIMD extensions, and Execute disable (NX or XD) bit. One of the advanced features is HyperThreading technology. This feature allows each CPU core to execute two threads at once, which results in improved processor performance. Another performance enhancement feature is Turbo Boost technology. That feature may briefly bump the frequency of one core, when another core is idle, by as much as 1.06 GHz.
One the main benefits of the Core i7-660UM mobile processor is superior power consumption. To prolong battery life the CPU employs two different techniques. Low-power states reduce power dissipation when one or both cores are idle. Enhanced SpeedStep technology cuts power consumption at the expense of performance while the CPU core or cores are active. Maximum thermal Design Power (TDP) of this model is 18 Watt.
The package of Intel Core i7-660UM is not different from other mobile Core i7 ULV processors - it's a micro-BGA package with 988 balls, that is soldered directly on a motherboard. This type of package mounting has low overall height, but is very difficult to replace or upgrade.
