Bits and pieces: AMD FX-8150 at 8.43GHz, Core i7-2700K frequency confirmed
Sep 15, 2011: Earlier this week, in a press release, titled "AMD Showcases
World’s Fastest CPU", AMD announced
new overclocking world record. Not yet released FX-8150 processor
with 6 disabled cores was overclocked to staggering 8.429 GHz by a
team of overclocking specialists working together with AMD engineers.
It's definitely an impressive result, and a great marketing stunt.
Core i7-880: still not in retail
Jul 14, 2010: The fastest at this moment socket 1156 quad-core microprocessor, Core
i7-880, was launched on May 30. The processor is clocked at 3.06 GHz,
and, with the help of Turbo Boost feature, the frequency can be
bumped up to 3.3 GHz with all 4 cores active, or to 3.73 GHz for one
active core.
Intel added pricing for new Core i3/ i5 / i7 microprocessors
Jun 01, 2010: On May 27th we posted a news story about new Intel processors
coming this quarter - Xeon X3480, Pentium Dual-Core E6700, Core
I3-550, and unlocked Core i5 I5-655K and Intel Core I7-875K CPUs. All
these models, as well as Core i7-880, were listed in today's Intel price
list.
