Intel Core i7-880

News

Sep 15, 2011: Earlier this week, in a press release, titled "AMD Showcases World’s Fastest CPU", AMD announced new overclocking world record. Not yet released FX-8150 processor with 6 disabled cores was overclocked to staggering 8.429 GHz by a team of overclocking specialists working together with AMD engineers. It's definitely an impressive result, and a great marketing stunt.

Jul 14, 2010: The fastest at this moment socket 1156 quad-core microprocessor, Core i7-880, was launched on May 30. The processor is clocked at 3.06 GHz, and, with the help of Turbo Boost feature, the frequency can be bumped up to 3.3 GHz with all 4 cores active, or to 3.73 GHz for one active core.

Jun 01, 2010: On May 27th we posted a news story about new Intel processors coming this quarter - Xeon X3480, Pentium Dual-Core E6700, Core I3-550, and unlocked Core i5 I5-655K and Intel Core I7-875K CPUs. All these models, as well as Core i7-880, were listed in today's Intel price list.

May 17, 2010: As was reported by other hardware news sites in February and March of this year, in the second quarter Intel is planning to launch faster version of Core i7 800-series processor - Core i7 880.
