AMD Geode LX microprocessor

AMD Geode LX is a family of highly integrated embedded microprocessors. The Geode GX2 processor includes CPU core, video processor, display controller, 2D graphics processor, AES encryption/decryption hardware, random number generator and GeodeLink interface modules, such as control Processor, Interface units, DDR SDRAM memory controller and PCI bridge.

Based on Geode GX2, the LX processors include many enhancements to the CPU core, GeodeLink and other components. Performance of the CPU core was significantly improved by increasing the size of level 1 instruction and data caches from 16 KB to 64 KB, adding 128 KB L2 cache, and increasing maximum frequency of GeodeLink memory controller and Interface Units. The CPU features new Video Input Port and Security block, that includes 128-bit AES hardware support, True Random Number Generator and optional 2Kbit EEPROM. The Geode LX microprocessors are manufactured using 0.13 micron technology, and have lower core voltage and power consumption than the Geode GX CPUs.

Like Geode GX CPUs, the Geode LX microprocessors are marked with rated speed which is relative to frequency of VIA C3 microprocessors.
