AMD Athlon II Neo Mobile K145 - AMK145LAV13GMSpecificationsAMD Athlon II Neo K145 is a low-power microprocessor for
entry-level netbooks and ultra-thin notebooks. First references to
this model were found in a leaked Dell training document, and for the
first time the processor was spotted in Acer Aspire One 721 netbook in
the middle of December 2010. Other notebooks with this CPU are Dell
Inspiron M101z and Lenovo ThinkPad Edge.
The Neo K145 processor is based on enhanced K10 microarchitecture, and incorporates one CPU core, integrated dual-channel memory controller and one HyperTransport link. The CPU core operates at 1.8 GHz, and includes 128 KB level 1 and 1 MB level 2 cache. The memory controller supports DDR3 memory with maximum data rate 1066 MHz. The HyperThreading link is clocked at 1 GHz, which is lower than 1.6 GHz HyperTransport frequency on Turion II Neo models. The Athlon II K125 includes all instruction set extensions, that can be found in more expensive AMD CPUs - AMD64, SIMD support up to SSE3, and Virtualization. The K145 comes with several low-power features, including PowerNow! technology, and is rated at 12 Watt Thermal Design Power. This Athlon II Neo microprocessor is manufactured in ASB2 BGA package, which has lower profile and smaller size than the socket S1 packages. Upgrading this CPU is not possible, as the processor is soldered on a motherboard. The Athlon II K145 offers up to 6% better performance than slower
K125 model. Under certain conditions, this model may be recommended
over low-power dual-core Athlon II CPUs. If your primary application
is single-threaded, then it will run faster on higher clocked K145
than on dual-core Athlon II Neo K325 or K345 models. If you run
multiple applications at a time, or a single multi-threaded
application, then the Athlon II Dual-Core Neo processors could be
faster.

upcoming refresh of mainstream and ultrathin 2010 mobile platforms. If
you followed the stories then you may know that a number of not yet
released processors was spotted in specifications of Acer, Dell, HP
and Lenovo notebooks, and some of these notebooks already materialized
in retail stores. Today, AMD added new mobile models to 2010
AMD Mainstream Platform and 2010
AMD Ultrathin Platform pages, and updated
AMD product
pages as well.
Dec 17, 2010: Launched in May 2010, AMD "Nile" ultrathin platform included 5
microprocessors from four different dual-core and single-core "Neo"
families. Six months after the launch, we have all indications that
AMD is planning to release new models for that platform. We already
know three expected Neo models, Turion II Neo K645 and K685, and
Athlon II K145. Today we discovered that yet another unannounced
processor, dual-core Athlon II Neo K345,
is shipped
in Inspiron M101z laptop by Dell Australia.
Dec 13, 2010: Acer added another configuration with more powerful single-core AMD
Neo microprocessor for its Aspire One 721 netbook (see "related Links"
below for a link). While the original version of the netbook was
shipped with Neo K125 CPU, operating at 1.7 GHz, newer netbook uses
Neo K145 which runs at 1.8 GHz.
