This processor was released in October 2009 together with a group of other energy-efficient Athlon II microprocessors. Built on the same Rana core as other members of Athlon II X2 family, the 240e runs at 2.8 GHz and features 1 MB level 2 cache per core. With Thermal Design Power (TDP) just 45 Watt, this processor is a perfect fit for low-power systems, like HTPC or always-on office computers. Athlon 64 X2 5050e. The 5050e runs at 2.6 GHz and has twice smaller L2 cache. As a consequence, model 240e has 15% - 50% better performance than the 5050e.
