Jan 04, 2011: If you followed launch schedule of AMD desktop microprocessors for
the last year, you probably noticed that every quarter AMD introduced new
standard-power Athlon II and Phenom II AMD processors, which were one
step faster than the previous top of the line models. This quarter is
not going to be different, as, according to last year reports, AMD
will release Athlon II X2 275, X3 460, and X4 655 microprocessors, as
well as two unlocked Phenom II CPUs, X2 570 and X4 975. This week,
motherboard manufacturer Biostar updated
CPU support list for socket AM3 boards with part numbers and basic
specs of upcoming desktop microprocessors.

Phenom II X2 521?
Idly browsing HP's site I noticed one of their newly redesigned customizable desktop models (Pavilion p7z) listed a "Phenom II X2 521" clocked at 3.5GHz with 2MB of L2 cache and apparently no L3 cache. As 521 would seem to be the next logical SKU up from the 511 at 3.4GHz and no L3 cache, one can only guess that AMD is maintaining the Phenom branding on upper-clocked Athlons. Just as likely, though, HP could have speciously input the data (note on the very same product page the X4 840 has X4 840T specs listed).

After further digging, the same model name is entered into their PartSurfer under "638175-002" showing 65W TDP and C3 stepping.
