NewsAMD drops prices of Athlon II and A-Series processors
Nov 06, 2012: Last month DigiTimes reported on upcoming price reductions of
older generation of AMD APUs. According to their sources, AMD was
going to reduce prices of socket FM1 processors by as much as 35%.
Yesterday AMD updated their official price list, and posted new prices
of A-Series microprocessors, however the cuts were not as big as
expected.

Dec 07, 2010: With the launch of three new desktop processors today, AMD
also dropped prices on many older models. Majority of price cuts were
insignificant, typically in the range from 3% to 10%. The price of one
microprocessor, Phenom II X4 970, was increased by $5, or by about 3%.

AMD boxed desktop processors for Q3/Q4 2010
Jul 28, 2010: We recently stumbled upon public AMD dealer product training document,
that contains limited information about planned desktop
microprocessors for the rest of this year. The document doesn't show
any new processor models besides those that are already known from
our stories, and from stories posted by other hardware news sites.
Nevertheless, we decided to post two pages from the document as they
confirm impending release of new Phenom II, Athlon II and Sempron
models.
AMD Athlon II and Phenom II CPUs planned for the third quarter
Jul 20, 2010: AMD already refreshed their lines of desktop Athlon II and Phenom II families two times in 2010. First time it happened in January, when
AMD released standard-power Phenom II X2 and Atlhon II
microprocessors, and second time it was at the end of April and in
May, when AMD introduced 6-core Phenom II processors, and updated the
whole line of Athlon II CPUs. In the third quarter AMD plans an
incremental upgrade for many energy-efficient and standard-power
Athlon II CPUs, and will introduce a few Phenom II models.

Saved Myself a lot of money. Unlocked the 4th core2011-03-14 22:48:42 Posted by: migel estrada I was lucky enough to be able to unlock the 4th core with my gigabyte 880gm UD2H motherboard. It's been working like a charm, I ran prime 95 for about 2 hrs and saw the temperature rise to 61c and stopped, then I read on this page that it can run to 75c. I plan on overclock in the future after I read more on it. I now plan on getting a new cooler to replace the stock cooler. The programs that I am currently running are running quicker. Hope to add more to this thread. Unlock fail!2011-04-23 06:15:27 Posted by: blitz Tried unlocking the 4th core with a biostar a770e3 and 3 different bios updates with no luck! :( unlocked2011-05-10 00:42:29 Posted by: james unlocked fourth core and cache on my am3+ 880gma-usb3 mobo Athlon X3 4502011-05-24 09:21:27 Posted by: Dyllon I unlocked the forth core with a ASUS M4N68T-M V2. Now running a Phenom II X4 B50 saved me some money to and it is not guaranteed that the core will be stable or not. With Asus M4A88T-M no result2011-07-16 00:39:34 Posted by: Vic I tried to unlock with Asus M4A88T-M no result :( AMD Athlon X3 450 Core unlocked2011-09-01 04:57:41 Posted by: Ruan Greeff I succeeded in unlocking my AMD Athlon II x3 450 with the GIGABYTE GA-880G-UD3H. It now says AMD Phenom(tm) II x4 B50. There was a setting under the M.I.T. option in the BIOS that has to be set from "NORMAL" to "HYBRID" and then you just select the cores. It worked like a dream, its been running for 2 days now without any problems, although the CPU temp has risen quite rapidly, poking at 70 degrees Celsius when i stress my system; probably have to upgrade my heat-sink to ensure more heat dissipation.
