News
Jun 03, 2011: Exactly one month ago, on May 3, AMD launched a few speed bump
versions of Athlon II and Phenom II microprocessors. Reviews of the
flagship quad-core Phenom II 980 model were posted all over the net,
and it was added to official pricelist along with Athlon II X3 460.
Specifications of three additional processors, Athlon II X3 425e,
Athlon II X4 620e, and Phenom II X2 570, were posted on AMD website.
Overall, the launch of 5 new chips seemed like a newsworthy event,
expect that the processors never made it to the stores.
May 03, 2011: Today, AMD launched several microprocessors from Athlon II and
Phenom II series, including a couple of energy-efficient models. Newly
released Phenom II CPUs are dual-core X2 570 and quad-core
X4 980. New Athlon IIs are standard voltage X3 460, and
low-power X3 425e and X4 620e.
Apr 27, 2011: In the past few weeks there were several reports of upcoming Phenom II
microprocessors, including quad-core 850 and 980 models, and dual-core
570. Today AMD published desktop processor roadmap for the second quarter
of this year, which confirms imminent launch of these CPUs, and also
shows a few soon to be released Athlon II SKUs.
Jan 04, 2011: If you followed launch schedule of AMD desktop microprocessors for
the last year, you probably noticed that every quarter AMD introduced new
standard-power Athlon II and Phenom II AMD processors, which were one
step faster than the previous top of the line models. This quarter is
not going to be different, as, according to last year reports, AMD
will release Athlon II X2 275, X3 460, and X4 655 microprocessors, as
well as two unlocked Phenom II CPUs, X2 570 and X4 975. This week,
motherboard manufacturer Biostar updated
CPU support list for socket AM3 boards with part numbers and basic
specs of upcoming desktop microprocessors.
