AMD to discontinue socket FM1 APUs
Nov 27, 2012: Since the launch of socket FM2 APU platform in October 2012, sales of the socket FM1 APUs, based on Llano core, have been in decline. In the second quarter of this year AMD sold 3.3 million socket FM1 processors. That number dropped to 0.6 million in Q3, and it is expected to be even lower this quarter. The fourth quarter will also be the last one, when AMD offers socket FM1 processors.

AMD drops prices of Athlon II and A-Series processors
Nov 06, 2012: Last month DigiTimes reported on upcoming price reductions of older generation of AMD APUs. According to their sources, AMD was going to reduce prices of socket FM1 processors by as much as 35%. Yesterday AMD updated their official price list, and posted new prices of A-Series microprocessors, however the cuts were not as big as expected.

AMD quietly introduces two Athlon II X4 CPUs
Feb 08, 2012: With the launch of "Llano" microprocessors in the middle of last year, it seemed like AMD was going to retire their older Athlon II and Sempron brands, that are commonly associated with mid-class and budget K10-based processors. Despite of introduction of new "A-Series" and other "-Series" families, the company continued to use "Athlon II" and "Sempron" names for "Llano" products, that didn't have on-chip GPU. The first Athlon II branded Llano model for socket FM1, quad-core 631 with 2.6 GHz frequency, was launched last summer. It was followed by Athlon II 651 in November. Yesterday AMD added another two Athlon II CPUs to AMD product database.

Athlon II and Sempron-branded Llano CPUs surface on Bisotar website
Aug 05, 2011: Earlier this year AMD introduced Llano processors, manufactured on 32nm process, and based on enhanced "Stars" (K10) microarchitecture. First two AMD Llano microprocessors were launched more than a month ago, while several other APU models will be available later this quarter, and in the 4th quarter. Depending on incorporated features, all current and upcoming Llano models are branded as "A-Series" or "E2-Series".
