AMD Phenom II X4 840T unlocks to six-core

Nov 03, 2010: Phenom II X4 840T microprocessors were launched in the third quarter 2010, but so far they were available only in OEM systems from Hewlett-Packard, and no processors made it into retail stores. Last month a handful of 840T parts appeared on auction sites in Asia.

AMD Phenom II X4 840T and 960T CPUs are shipped in Hewlett-Packard PCs

Sep 28, 2010: It seems that all latest desktop AMD OEM microprocessors end up in Hewlett-Packard PCs. Just two days ago we learned about HP Pavilion Elite HPE-410f and HPE-460z desktop computers, now available in stores with Phenom II X6 1045T CPU. Earlier this year we reported on Sempron 180 processors, spotted in Compaq Presario CQ3211CX and three other PCs, Sempron 145 and Athlon II X2 220 CPUs in HP Compaq 6005 Pro computers, and there were a few others. This time we discovered that two new quad-core OEM microprocessors with model numbers 840T and 960T are shipped in HP Pavilion Elite HPE-400z series PC. The Phenom II 840T is also available in HP Pavilion Slimline s5660f computer.

according to AMD the 840T has no L3 cache.

Response: Phenom II 840T (notice the "T" suffix) is different from Phenom II 840, and it does have L3 cache.

also x4 840t unlocks to a 6 core and the cpuid is 1405t x6
