Top view. Stepping code ACBBE CB. The processor was manufactured in the second half of March. I wasn't able to unlock extra cores on this specific sample, and even turning off Turbo Core feature presented some stability problems.

News

Oct 09, 2011: AMD FX-Series of microprocessors, based on not yet released Bulldozer core, will be launched in a few days. One of upcoming models, AMD FX-4100, emerged in several US online stores at the end of September. Tray version of this CPU was listed for $180 - $190, and at the time we estimated that its official price could be close to AMD FX-6100 model. Since then, the price was lowered, and the CPU is now listed for $120.68 on Provantage.com, and for $130.20 on Bottom Line Telecommunications website.

Jun 26, 2011: The first AMD processor with "Zosma" core, Phenom II 960T, was introduced in the third quarter 2010, or just a few months after the launch of 6-core Phenom IIs. Unfortunately, the 960T model was released in 2010 only as an OEM processor, and it was difficult to find one for sale ... until now. ASCII.jp published pictures and prices of boxed version of Phenom II 960T, that went for sale this week in Japan.

Sep 28, 2010: It seems that all latest desktop AMD OEM microprocessors end up in Hewlett-Packard PCs. Just two days ago we learned about HP Pavilion Elite HPE-410f and HPE-460z desktop computers, now available in stores with Phenom II X6 1045T CPU. Earlier this year we reported on Sempron 180 processors, spotted in Compaq Presario CQ3211CX and three other PCs, Sempron 145 and Athlon II X2 220 CPUs in HP Compaq 6005 Pro computers, and there were a few others. This time we discovered that two new quad-core OEM microprocessors with model numbers 840T and 960T are shipped in HP Pavilion Elite HPE-400z series PC. The Phenom II 840T is also available in HP Pavilion Slimline s5660f computer.

Aug 14, 2010: First rumored to be released in the second quarter of this year, Thuban-based six-core 1075T and quad-core 960T were postponed until the third quarter. While these models are not officially released yet, OEM versions of these CPUs emerged on eBay.

Jul 20, 2010: AMD already refreshed their lines of desktop Athlon II and Phenom II families two times in 2010. First time it happened in January, when AMD released standard-power Phenom II X2 and Atlhon II microprocessors, and second time it was at the end of April and in May, when AMD introduced 6-core Phenom II processors, and updated the whole line of Athlon II CPUs. In the third quarter AMD plans an incremental upgrade for many energy-efficient and standard-power Athlon II CPUs, and will introduce a few Phenom II models.

Apr 17, 2010: OCW (ocworkbench.com) reports that Phenom II X4 960T processor is, in fact, a six-core CPU with two cores disabled, which can be unlocked on some motherboards. With all 6 cores running, the 960T is recognized by BIOS as "Phenom II X6 1605T".

Thats all...
I have one of these, and it can unlock to x6 without problems!!

I got 5 cores on mine. If unlocking doesn't work then just disable one of the new cores. Then if that doesn't work then do the other core if your lucky only one is defective.

I've noticed most don't think to try this but it did work for me.

On my first try, I managed to unlock 5 and 6 cores.
