Does not work in certain AM3 boards

2010-01-12 17:11:13
Posted by: jpr

Some AM3/DDR2 compatible boards have issues with the C2 stepping. Typically ones that obtained AM3 support through a BIOS update. BIOSTAR reports that it is a power plane issue. They say the 955/965 C2 requires a dual power plane, whereas many AM2/AM2+ boards did not have this in their PCB design.

If you attempt to boot a 965 in a single power plane board, it will revert to safe mode (800Mhz/1V vCore).
