News

Feb 28, 2012: As you may know, AMD yesterday launched two FX microprocessors, including company's first production CPU, operating faster than 4 GHz. New product releases are usually accompanied by price drops of older models, and it wasn't an exception this time. AMD cut prices on two FX-Series models, and reduced prices for most of Phenom IIs. They also added pricing for A-Series A6-3620 and A8-3820 Accelerated Processing units (APUs).

Dec 07, 2010: With the launch of three new desktop processors today, AMD also dropped prices on many older models. Majority of price cuts were insignificant, typically in the range from 3% to 10%. The price of one microprocessor, Phenom II X4 970, was increased by $5, or by about 3%.

Oct 21, 2010: In August of this year, Xbit labs published a story hinting at two variations of AMD Phenom II X4 970 microprocessors: Deneb-based boxed version with C3 core stepping, and Thuban-based OEM version with two cores disabled. On September 21st AMD launched boxed version of the 970 microprocessor with Deneb core, but up to this moment there were no traces of the second, Zosma-based, Phenom II 970. Recently we acquired and tested an OEM version of Phenom II X4 model, which is based on Zosma core.

Sep 21, 2010: Today AMD launched 6 new desktop models, which span across six different Athlon II and Phenom II families. Also, two budget-class models, Sempron 145 and Athlon II X2 220, are now available as boxed processors. The new processors are offered in a wide range of prices, from budget dual-core Athlon II 265 at $76 and up to high-performance Phenom II 1075T at $245.

Sep 18, 2010: A few days left before AMD officially announces new refresh of Athlon II and Phenom II microprocessor line-ups. In this refresh AMD is going to introduce new dual-, triple- and quad-core Athlon II CPUs with model numbers 265, 450 and 645, and three Phenom II microprocessors - dual-core 560, quad-core 970, and six-core 1075T.

Sep 10, 2010: For well over a year Phenom II X4 965 was the highest clocked microprocessor manufactured by AMD. Launched in August 2009, Phenom II X4 965 has 4 cores operating at 3.4 GHz, which is at least 200 Mhz higher than the next fastest clocked AMD CPU. In the next two weeks AMD is going to introduce new model that will beat the 965 by 100 MHz. The new processor is a quad-core Phenom II 970.

Hi,

I was about to buy 965, but when i heard that amd is going to release. I postponed my decision until this new processor arrive. Anyone know when this is going to release. Especially in India.

Response: The processor was released last week, and it was available in US stores in a day or two after release. Sorry, we don't know when it will be available in India.
