AMD Sempron 140 - SDX140HBK13GQ / SDX140HBGQBOXSpecificationsSempron 140 is the first single-core microprocessor and the first Sempron-branded processor based on the K10 microarchitecture. With 2.7 GHz clock frequency and large 1 MB level 2 cache, this processor leaves far behind all other K8-based Sempron CPUs. The Sempron 140 is even faster than almost all single-core Athlon microprocessors. The only Athlon 64 CPU that matches this Sempron, and only in a some benchmarks, is Athlon 64 LE-1660.
While the Sempron has only one core, it's in fact a dual-core Athlon II processor with one core disabled. The second core may be unlocked on some Sempron 140 microprocessors using "Advanced Clock Calibration" BIOS feature. Sempron with unlocked core is reported by CPU-Z and similar programs as "Athlon II X2 4400e Processor". Not only that, but some Sempron processors overclock really well, and may reach 3.6 - 3.7 GHz. (Disclaimer - overclocking may damage your CPU. Damage, caused by overclocking, is not covered by CPU warranty.) ToolsAMD Sempron 140 specifications

NewsAMD Sempron 180 mini-review
Sep 17, 2010: At the end of July we published preliminary specifications of Sempron
180 microprocessors. Recently, we acquired one the these Semprons, ran
a series of benchmarks on it, and compared them with test results of
other budget AMD and Intel CPUs. This mini-review presents partial
benchmarking results and our thoughts of them, and it will be useful
for those who consider buying either pre-built system with this
Sempron CPU, or OEM version of this microprocessor.

Typo - Family: AMD K7 Sempron?2009-07-29 14:53:53 Posted by: vernaides You typed "AMD K7 Sempron" in "Family" instead of "AMD K10 Sempron". The link points to the correct location though. Response: Thank you for correction! I will fix it tonight.
Unlocking Success.2010-06-30 02:16:46 Posted by: guyz92 I have a Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H. Unlocked hidden core2010-07-02 00:29:33 Posted by: Jon The Sempron 140 can also be unlocked to restore it an Athlon II X2 state. Both chips are based on the same silicon, but the Sempron has one of its cores disabled..
Memory Controller2010-08-08 07:40:10 Posted by: Jannis The CPU Specs say "DDR2 Controller" but it should be DDR2/DDR3 since this in an AMD K10 and can be used in the AM3-socket Response: It will be updated today. Thank you!
For Jon (et al)2010-08-31 09:08:33 Posted by: Kyle B. I read your comment regarding the settings on your Gigabyte Motherboard and can confirm that they work. I recently rebuilt a couple of my kids machines, so, on a budget, I acquired a pair of MA78LM-S2H's to see if I could unlock any on my Semprons and indeed I can. All of them did. Thanks kindly. 2011-01-30 14:50:19 Posted by: RastaMan Beautiful processor, on my AsRock N68C-S work on fsb 300mhz!!! Of course is problem with onboard graphic card. 2011-02-14 14:16:29 Posted by: Allocco Unlock success on GA-MA785-US2H. C1E Support - Disable , EC Firmware Selection - Hybrid, AAC - All cores AUTO. Unlocking confirmation2011-02-20 03:37:40 Posted by: Chocobollz I have successfully unlocked my Sempron 140 NAEIC AE 1040MPMW using Biostar A780L3G motherboard. So far it is running stable at 3.37 GHz on stock cooler and using cheapo 2x2 GB DDR3-1333 (bought it for US$15 a piece LOL). Unlocked2011-02-24 08:54:20 Posted by: Zloduh I have unlocked this one also on GA-78LMT-s2 it runs stable with 2 cores on 3.6ghz with stock cooler. Asrock N68-S3 UCC2011-03-01 07:22:03 Posted by: George Mikuchadze I have ASRock N68-S3 UCC motherbord. After bios upgrading to p1.40 unlocked sempron 140 (now Athlon II X2 440) is working stable!
