One of the last(?) brown Palomino AthlonXP with AGKGA stepping. It is from week 48 2001.

It has a chipped upper right corner, but it still works perfectly, yet hot :)

This could actually be the latest Palomino on brown suit. It is marked 12th week of 2002. Even with a hole in the upper left corner it still works at 1,150 GHz.

Hi it's me again. That mobo wasn't set up right. I just found the right settings and, despite of his hole on the upper left corner, now is working at his speed 1.533 MHz. Very sturdy CPU...

But I tried to increase the FSB to 133 from 100, it is supposed to run at 1.5ghz not 1.15ghz right?

when clock is 100 it works on 1450, and on 133 is 1.93=2.0

I've had the Athlon 1800 cpu in my computer for about 4 years now, and not having the funds to upgrade my entire system, I FINALLY decided to try out the overclock features on my Gigabyte GA-7VAX (KT400 series) motherboard.

I went from the original 1.53ghz to, with 100mhz x 18 (clocking at 1.84ghz) it is now registering as an Athlon XP 2200+
and stable for 1 week straight now

I would LOVE to see how far this cpu could be pushed, however, the multiplier does not go past 18x on this motherboard :/

Oh well, coupled with 2gb of DDR 400mhz ram and an ATI Sapphire 3850 HD 512mb AGP graphics card, I am able to play EVE online at medium graphics levels with 0 crashes and a smoooth framerate.

(the same as my buddies brand new $1500 setup with a duel core Intel 2.4ghz cpu)

Altogether, very impressed with this old cpu. Even with the overclock, and original cpu cooler, its only reading 8 degrees Celsius warmer than stock settings at max load.

I would recommend anyone still rocking the Athlon 1800 to try overclocking before dropping big money on a new system. Total system upgrades for me from memory express:

1gb Kingston DDR 400mhz ram = $35
Sapphire 3850 HD 512mb AGP vid card = $120
(AGP is a 'dead' technology now, you may need PCI, or PCI express card depending on your motherboard)
450w Corsair powersupply = $80
(450w minimum required to run new graphics card, I previously had 360w Thermaltake PS)

Total = $235
Comparable system now days, new, $600-800
