AMD Athlon XP 3200+ - AXDA3200DKV4E

CPU Information

Athlon XP 3200+ is the fastest AMD processor for socket A (462). This processor has Barton core with 512 KB level 2 cache. It is one of a few socket A CPUs that support 400 MHz Front Side Bus. This processor is the best upgrade option for socket A motherboards that support it, though it does not have the best price/performance ratio. Being the fastest socket A (462) processor, it is probably one of the most expensive socket A microprocessors at the moment. To save money you may consider upgrading to Athlon XP 3000+ instead - it's only a few percent slower than the 3200+.

Alternative to the Athlon 3200 socket A- same speed different name

Those of you wanting the fastest Socket A chip out there may wish to look at the Socket ASempron 3300 as this appears to be an Athlon 3200 with a new name. same Cache, same Mhz, same instructions and same FSB.

only half the price. Just a thought.

3300+/3400+ Barton rumors

These do not exist.

The standard "highest Socket A" is a Barton 3200+, but not at 2.2Ghz.

AMD made a vendor-specific 2.3Ghz version for HP's d325 desktop computer. It was a normal Barton 3200+ core, but at 2.33Ghz, and a 333Mhz FSB. It also featured a different (blue colored), 9 bladed cooling fan at a slightly higher than normal RPM.

I am redistributer of school liquidations - in the past all I did was books - but I am expanding into computer parts - on this 3200 is there only the one othe variation - I see listed - and I haven't seen anywhere else yet - meaning most of them are this processor - anr any steps considerably more desirable than the others -

Currently have a 1.6 gig duron, will this 3200 be capable of running high end games, will I notice a big difference?

Response: You will notice a big difference, but you'll be able to play the latest games only with low or medium details (depends on video)

Just wanted to put my pic up and see if anyone sees anything funny, or if this is the real thing. CPUID is only showing 1.1GHz clock speed

OK, one more for the nervous-like...

Response: My guess is that your CPU is running at FSB 200 MHz. Change FSB in BIOS to 400 MHz.

I'm currently running an XP 1900+. How noticeable would it be if I upgraded?

Response: It would be noticable. On average you'll get about 30% - 40% better performance, up to 55% in some applications

can ı use the axda3200dkv4e for my laptop?

Response: No. Laptop heatsink/fan won't be able to cool it because it has much higher power dissipation than mobile processors

AXDA3200DKV4E wtih stepping AQZFA0334?!

2007-07-23 00:53:12
Posted by: Bernie Seyfert

hi to all,
is this a genuine XP3200 (Barton), 400 Mhz FSB?
Also there is one thing missing sticking out of the board one end of heat die. I´ve done a little research and I have seen many XP3200 looks exactly the same like this one. (all say AXDA3200DKV4E on the sicker).
But Iám not sure if this CPU is the "real deal".
0334 says 34 week in 2003. So it must be an early typ/model.
Any thoughts from the expert/s?

Correct Setting on Asrock K7NF2-RAID

2007-07-13 06:00:06
Posted by: Patrizia C.

Hello, I have to mount this CPU on my new Asrock MB, I see that this board supports 400 MHz Fsb, so should I set the jumpers to this value and set the multiplier to 5,5, or is it better to set the board to 200 Mhz and multiply with 11??
This because I am not very sure of the meaning of double data rate for the fsb..

Otherwise, can it work also if I set only 400MHz Fsb and no multipliers at all??

Thank you in advance!

Response: Usually you shouldn't set the multipliers on the board or in the BIOS - the board should recognize the CPU and set them automatically. If you need to set the FSB/multipliers then set them to 200 MHz and 11.

Some differences

This is mine has some differences. I would not mind except I just bought and it doesn't work in my system. Documentation said it should.

Not electronically similar to ohters in that there is one thing missing sticking out of the board one end of heat die.

Any info on CPU appreciated

Some differences

Good operating tempatures.

2007-06-11 09:05:49
Posted by: Joshua

I often worry about the tempature of my CPU as I see it often reaching 55C after the computer has been on for a while, I am relieved to hear that this is in its operating range (your site says 0-80C). Now, I understand that colder is better, but is there an optimal, or perfered temp that I might be able to attain without upgrading to liquid cooling? (I jst can't afford that atm)

ty

Response: 55C under load is ok. Usually you should keep it under 60C. Post in the forum for suggestions on how to reduce the temperature.

Worth it?

Will I see a big boost in performance if I move from an XP 2600+ (mobile chip with 266 FSB) to an XP 3200+ (400 FSB)? My motherboard can handle 266/333/400 FSBs

Response: It will run up to 20% faster in some applications, but on average you'll see about 10% performance boost

How much performance increasement will I notice if I upgrade my computer from a AMD Sempron 2400+ to a AMD Athlon 3200+ XP BARTON?

Hi , i can`t find any pictures a HP computer with this CPU but on the wikipedia site you can read there is a 4000+ Athlon XP and what i don`t understand is that this site doesn`t knwos the
AMD Geode NX 1750+ or the 1500+
i use a 3000+and a Geode NX 1750+
T-Bred B core with an FSB of 266MHz
i just unlocked my Athlon XP 3000+
en overclocked it to 3700+ on a Asrock K7VT4A Pro
with my own made bios

Response: I beleive that Athlon XP 4000+ does not exist - I will believe when I see a picture of it.. Geode family will be added in May.

There was a athlon XP Barton 3300+. It was made for a specific system. I can't think of the name. Do a google search and you will see it. I always wanted on to see what it could do.

Because the CPU in my computer right now is an AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Barton 2.2GHz Socket A. Processor Model AXDA3200DKV4E. It's an OEM version, meaning it didn't come in a fancy box with a heatsink and fan. I got on NewEgg on November 30th, 2004. I paid $179 for it.

It may be showing its age now, but it's mine. It is my precious. You cannot have it!

Response: On average you'll get about 10% better performance. In some applications it'll be up to 15% faster

The 3200+ XP is the fastest one in production

2007-03-08 11:15:00
Posted by: John L

Although there is documentation about a Barton 3400+ XP, and some BIOS strings included its ID, it never existed "in the wild" -- in other words, it never went into production. I scoured the countryside high and low for quite some time to obtain the fastest Athlon XP and eventually discovered the 3400+ is akin to the mythical Unicorn. I've no doubt that it was on AMD's development "roadmap" and it's even possible some prototypes were made, but production of it was likely overtaken by development and marketing of other processors by AMD, and the sunsetting of Socket A.

I have a E-Machine T2825 with a MB AU31/1.3 462P.
I'm thinking about upgrading the CPU to this
XP3200. Will this work on the Motherboard.
I've got a 2800XP now.

Thanks in advance.

Response: Sorry, I don't have data on your board. Upgrading from 2800+ to 3200+ not worth it - you probably won't notice the difference.

romeo's question

2006-11-19 14:38:22
Posted by: Tomas

Romeo, it depends what processor you are running now.

If you fit this Processor to a FSB333 motherboard it will run like an Athlon XP3200 FSB333. It will simply clock down.

If you are running a slower processor like a 2200 or 2400 for example you will benefit from the upgrade.

is it possible for me to use this processor, my motherboard doesn't support fsb 400

thanks.

Response: No. Even if this processor will run in your motherboard, it will run at slower speed, so it doesn't make sense to upgrade to it.
