AMD Athlon XP 3200+ - AXDA3200DUV3CSpecificationsIn the past we received quite a few requests to confirm whether specific AXDA3200DUV3C CPU is genuine or not. We were unable to do that because we couldn't get our hands on one of these CPUs, and we couldn't find a good picture of it. Recently, in February 2010, we received more or less detailed picture of the processor (you can find the picture in the comments section). As much as we can tell from the picture this processor is not genuine. A few reasons why we think the processor is fake. The most important reason, perhaps, is a mismatch between data matrix code on the processor, and CPU's serial number. The data matrix code, located to the right side of chip markings, contains encoded serial number. When we encoded serial number Y290235B23216 using the same method as AMD uses, we received quite different image.
Please see the picture on the right for enlarged data matrix code from the CPU, and the code that we received. The other reason why the processor is fake is that the part number AXDA3200Dxx3C and AIXJB stepping code both imply that the processor is based on Thoroughbred B core, but the core on the picture has the size and shape of Barton or Thorton core, and not of Thoroughbred core. The last discrepancy, that we noticed, is between processor rating, 3200+, and microprocessor's internal frequency. According to description of recent eBay auctions for the CPU, the processor runs at 2.33 GHz. That frequency would match the rating if we were talking about AXDA3200DKV4D - 3200+ processor with 512 KB L2 cache and 166 MHz FSB. It's not likely that the 3200+ CPU with half of the cache and slower FSB will be rated the same way as AXDA3200DKV4D.Everything said above applies to pictured processor only. If you acquired or plan to acquire the AXDA3200DUV3C CPU, we would recommend to look at the data matrix code and the size and shape of the core, and compare them with the pictured processor. If one of them matches then the processor is probably a fake. If you're in doubt then please send us or upload on this page good quality picture of the CPU. This part is very likely a fake.

AXDA3200DUV3C
found this one on ebay.
AXDA3200DUV3C
XP3200+ 2,33GHz with 266/133FSB and 256KB Cache?!
ebay item number is 170445862740
(paste it into the search bar on ebay)
apart from the ridiculously high price he wants (199euros or about 253US$)... fake or real..!? o.O
Label doesn't really look like a fake..
Serial Number
i've just decoded the Datamatrix that's actually on the CPU and made a new comparison pic.
Decoded data: Y920035B40651
(actual datamatrix serial on the CPU)
and by the way.. the cpu is missing all 4 standoffs.. didnt notice that before o.O
