Change of Plan (as of Oct.'8):

I'll leave the Sempron 3300+ in the Gigabyte board and remove the whole board and put it into another case. I'll, then, put this Athlon 64 into the ASRock board within the case where the other was.

Sorry that I won't be able to tell you that it worked - or not - in a Gigabyte board but this saves ME the cleaning of the old thermalpad off of the CPU! :-)

I think you'll have my answer by Thanksgiving as the AsRock board and I/O shield HAVE arrived.

I've purchased one of these mPros to go into the GB board. This mPro is NOT listed on this site as supported in that board.

I'll let YOU know IF it works!

IF it DOES,
I'll put my current SDA3300AIO2BA Sempron into the (planned) purchase ASRock board.

Overclock

This cpu overclocks extremely well with an nForce4 4X skt 754 motherboard such as the ECS or Abit NV8. I have 3400+ Venices in each mobo. In the ECS I can get up to 2.7ghz and in the Abit NV8 I have hit 2.815ghz. For normal, everyday use I run the Abit NV8 system at 2.7ghz and the ECS at 2.6ghz. I use Crucial Ballistix ram (2x512) in each system.

OVERCLOCK!

Well, my chip isn't too overclock friendly, or it might be my cheap hardware, but I can set my HT speed to 1000MHz. It helps a little and makes me feel better
