Best 754 CPU

gotta love this thing... even tho it cost me $200 on eBay haha... yes it is a Newark and yes it is 2.6GHz stock (13x multi 200 bus) so you can remove the question marks. Have it running in my ASUS K8N board right now... had to mod the heatsink retention thing to use my stock heatsink tho. And it didnt like running at the stock 13 x 200 for some reason, had to put it at something odd like 11.5 x 226. right now its at 11.5 x 252 = 2.9ghz stable :)

Hey Superdude688, It's hard finding out any info about using the 5BU's on K8N's. I talked to MSI & ASUS, three techs say they won't work together. Glad to hear you did it, I've got a Athlon 64 M 3700+ AMN3700BKX5BU on the way for my K8N-NEO now.

Stable at 2.8Ghz, 1.68V

Running the ABIT NF8V, with Coolermaster copper core HS with 5K RPM fan.

This chip hovers around 58C at full load, 2.8Ghz @ 1.68V, with an ambient of 20C.

Very close performance to Opteron 256 (3Ghz).
SuperPI 1M = 31.6s (Athlon 4000+) 30.5 (Opteron 256)

I am running 10X on 280Mhz. I cannot run faster with this multiplier - I will try your 11.5 suggestion.

Over 3Ghz!!!

I never thought this was possible - but it is! See attached!

Over 3Ghz!!!

3Ghz Stable!!!

This configuration is completely stable!

Amazingly, this is faster than a 3Ghz Opteron 256, when running SuperPI 1M, completing the calculstion in 30.3s vs. 30.5s for the Opteron.

By stable I mean 3D gaming stable! A truly wonderful chip! Great Job AMD!

3Ghz Stable!!!

Works perfectly with K8V-MX, bios 5.01

Does not work with K8V SE Deluxe, bios 1007.003 or 1008.004
