I thought the only difference was the stepping, but I discovered that the CPU/RAM dividers are not the same. CPU-Z shows CPU/7 on the TMDTL64HAX5DC which makes the RAM run at 314MHz, and CPU/6 on the TMDTL64HAX5DM with the RAM running at 365MHz (tested using PC2-6400 RAM in the same laptop). I could not find any information regarding the CPU/RAM dividers of these Turion CPUs, so if your going to upgrade to one of these CPUs you really should get the latest stepping to avoid the memory performance hit of the older stepping. Memory Compatibility2011-11-11 15:32:25 Posted by: JPKS I got this TL-64 (G1 stepping) from ebay to replace the TL-52 in my MSI s271 laptop. Worked. I also upgraded my memory to 2GB DDR2-667 (Kingston). It now feels much more responsive running in XP 64. I got greedy and experimented with 1GB DDR2-800 (Kingston). In contrary to a previous comment, CPU-Z showed the memory divider did changed from 2200 / 7 to 2200 / 6 with this G1 stepping TL-64. However, although the divider number had improved (RAM can run at 367 Mhz at x 11 as oppose to 314 Mhz), I don't find any noticeable difference in performance so I don't think it is worth going to DDR2-800. Also I tried undervolting but not very stable so I turn it off if I am not running anything heavy.
