AMD Turion 64 Mobile technology microprocessor family
Turion 64 Mobile technology is a new brand name for mobile
high-performance single-core microprocessors based on K8 architecture.
Besides the new name, these processors use model numbers that are different
from all other K8-based CPUs. Turion 64 model numbers consist of two letters
and a two digit number. The second letter in the model number tells how much
power the processor requires - the closer this letter to Z the more
energy efficient the CPU is. Two digits in the model number specify
performance relative to other Turion 64 microprocessors - faster
processors have higher two-digit number.
Microarchitecture of Turion 64 microprocessors is similar to Mobile Athlon 64 CPUs. Turion 64 processors have single-channel integrated memory controller, one hyper-transport link, 128 KB of level 1 and 512 KB or 1 MB of level 2 cache memory. All Turion 64 processors support SSE3 instructions. The only notable new feature in Turion 64 is a Deeper Sleep power saving mode. This mode was not present in Mobile Athlon 64 and earlier mobile AMD microprocessors. All ML and MT models of Turion CPUs are compatible with socket 754. MK models are compatible with socket S1.
