VIA Luke CoreFusion highly integrated microprocessor

VIA Luke CoreFusion is a highly integrated microprocessor that incorporates Eden-N CPU core and VIA CN400 North Bridge. The CPU core has 64 KB instruction and data level 1 caches, 64 KB exclusive level 2 cache, full-speed Floating Point Unit, enhanced branch prediction, MMX, 3DNow! and SSE instructions, AES encryption/encryption and hardware-based random number generation. The CPU runs at 133 MHz Front Side Bus frequency.

The CN400 north bridge chipset includes FastStream64 memory controller that supports up to 4 GB of DDR400 memory. The chipset also integrates VIA UniChrome Pro 2D/3D graphics controller, that has such features as 8x AGP bus, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 decoding, dual-monitor support, DVI flat panel interface, video capture, and full HDTV support. To interface with a south bridge, the chipset uses 8x 66 MHz Ultra V-Link interconnect. The Luke CoreFusion processors can be used with VT8235M, VIA VT8237R Plus or VT8251 south bridge chipsets.

Luke CoreFusion is somewhat similar to Luke-Lite CoreFusion CPU. The major difference between them is the type of integrated chipset. The Luke has the following features that are not present in the Luke-Lite:

  • Support for DDR400 memory.
  • Video Input Port.
  • HDTV support.
  • TV-out interface
  • MPEG4 decoding.
