News
Dec 08, 2011: In the wake of the launch of desktop Ivy Bridge microprocessors,
coming in the second quarter 2012, Intel prepares to discontinue large
number of desktop models due to low demand. In the past two days, the
company published several Product Change Notification (PCN) documents,
that notify customers of upcoming discontinuation of 19 socket 1366,
socket 1156, and socket 1155 chips. Full list of retired SKUs
includes.
Jan 09, 2011: Earlier this week, at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Intel
announced 2nd generation Core microprocessors, based on just
introduced Sandy Bridge micro-architecture. Today, Intel officially
launched these processors, as well as a few models built on older
Nehalem and Core technology. Intel's price list was updated
with prices and brief specifications of all new CPUs.
Oct 15, 2010: In the first quarter 2011, Intel is going to introduce Sandy Bridge
micro-architecture by launching a mixture of desktop, mobile and
server-class microprocessors. While the launch of desktop processors
will include mid-class and high-performance Core i3, i5 and i7
families, budget Pentium and Celeron families will stay with Core and
Nehalem microarchitectures for another quarter or two. One of the
confirmed upcoming budget processors is a Core-based Pentium E5800
for socket 775. Another new model, we just learned about, is a Pentium
G6960 for socket 1156.
