Feb 06, 2013: Intel this week announced plans to retire 28 Sandy Bridge desktop CPUs from Celeron, Pentium, Core i3 and Core i5 families. After successful transition of budget desktop microprocessors from Sandy Bridge to Ivy Bridge microarchitecture, it's not surprising to see all phased out parts to be end of lifed.

Intel launches Core i7-2700K, drops prices on three CPUs
Oct 23, 2011: In August we reported about upcoming price drops of Intel microprocessors in September and October 2011. In accordance with the story, Intel reduced prices of energy-efficient Core i5 and i7 CPUs in September. The second round of price cuts happened today. The latest Intel pricelist shows 13% - 15% lower prices for Pentium G630, G850, and Core i3-2120 models. The pricelist also includes new Core i7-2700K microprocessor.

Intel quitely launches Pentium G632
Sep 07, 2011: Earlier this week Intel introduced 16 Sandy Bridge microprocessors for desktop and mobile markets, including three desktop Pentium models. Browsing specifications of newly added Pentiums in Intel ark database (, we discovered that there was fourth Pentium CPU, launched this month. Pentium G632, that has identical specifications to G630, was not included in official pricelist, and it seems to be an OEM-only SKU.

Sep 04, 2011: Over the course of past few months, we published a series of stories detailing Intel plans to release new desktop Celeron processors, and refresh existing Pentium and Core-branded families. Today Intel made public new pricelist, that confirms specifications and prices of all models, that we reported on before.

Intel to cut prices of Sandy Bridge desktop CPUs in Q3 2011
Aug 16, 2011: This fall, Intel plans to refresh desktop mid-class and budget families with seven new models. The new processors are Core i5-2320, Core i3-2130, i3-2125 and i3-2120T, and Pentium G860, G630 and G630T. Details of these CPUs, as well as prices for some of them, were known for months. In a related move, Intel is going to drop prices on selected Sandy Bridge SKUs.

Prices of upcoming Intel desktop CPUs
Jul 27, 2011: In September, Intel plans to release new Sandy Bridge Celeron processors, as well as refresh budget and mid-class desktop processor families. In total, there will be 11 models: four Celerons, three Pentiums, three Core 3s, and one Core i5 SKU. Specifications of these microprocessors were known for quite some time. Prices for several Celeron and Core i3 chips were published by Fudzilla news site in June. Three days ago, VR-Zone revealed prices for other upcoming Celeron, Pentium and Core i3 CPUs.

Intel to refresh Pentium line-up in Q3 2011
May 26, 2011: Less than a week passed since the launch of the first four Sandy Bridge Pentium chips, and there are already news about new Pentium SKUs. Fudzilla reported today that in the third quarter 2011 Intel will launch faster versions of G850 and G620 processors, which were assigned G860 and G630 processor numbers.

The size of the box is identical to other G6xx and G8xx Pentiums, and to second-generation Core i3/i5/i7 processors. The fan/heatsink, supplied in the box, is rated at 65 Watt. The same fan was shipped with Pentium G6xx (but not G6xxT), G8xxx, Core i3-21xx and Core i5-240xS CPUs.

Front view. Unlike AMD processors, that have model number on a separate sticker or a seal on the box, Intel prints model numbers on the box.
