Zilog Z180

Zilog Z180 is a Z80 compatible processor with integrated peripheral functions like clock generator, 16 bit counters/timers, interrupt controller, wait-state generators, serial ports and a DMA controller. The Z180 processor includes new memory management unit that can be used to indirectly address up to 1 MB of memory. A few new instructions were added to the processor instruction set. It is possible to configure the Zilog Z180 to operate as the Hitachi 64180. There are a few modifications of the Z180 microprocessor:

  • Z80180 - basic version with 5V core voltage and 2 power-down modes.
  • Z8S180 - low-power version of the Z180 with 5 power-down modes and 5V core voltage.
  • Z8L180 - low-voltage version of the processor with 3 power-down modes and 3.3V core voltage.
