AMD A6-5200 vs Intel Pentium 2020M

Mini Review

AMD A6-5200 advantages

  • The AMD A6-5200 includes more CPU cores than the 2020M. Large number of cores helps this processor to handle many simultaneous threads or applications.
  • The CPU has Advanced Encryption Standard instructions enabled. This extension accelerates AES encryption and decryption, and is valuable if you run programs, that secure your disk or network data.
  • The AMD A6-5200 has AVX and F16C instructions enabled. Although these extensions are not widely supported by applications yet, their support should improve in future apps.
  • The AMD A6-5200 microprocessor is 29% more energy efficient.

Intel Pentium 2020M advantages

  • The 2020M has higher operating frequency than the A6-5200 microprocessor.
  • Execute disable bit technology, enabled on this chip, helps to protect from certain kinds of computer viruses. This feature does not work on older OSes, like Windows 2000, MAC OS 9, and earlier ones.
  • The CPU utilizes Socket G2. The processor can be effortlessly removed from the socket for upgrade or replacement.

A6-5200 vs 2020M specifications comparison

The charts below compare the most important Intel Pentium 2020M and A6-5200 characteristics. These features, along with an IPC (instructions per cycle) number, determine how well a processor performs. Darker area on the "On-chip cache" graph is for the On-chip L2 cache. Lighter area is for the L3 cache cache. While the L3 cache cache is usually larger than the On-chip L2 cache, it is always slower.
