AMD A4-5300 vs Intel Core i3-3225

Mini Review

AMD A4-5300 advantages

AMD A4-5300

  • Operating frequency of this microprocessor is higher than the frequency of the i3-3225.
  • The CPU has AES technology enabled. These instructions provide hardware acceleration of AES encryption and decryption, and are useful if you need to secure your disk or network data.
  • The AMD A4-5300 incorporates FMA4 and XOP instructions, that were introduced in the recent past. These extensions are not broadly used by programs yet, however their support should improve in future apps.
  • The CPU features FMA3 instruction set extension. This technology is only offered on AMD CPUs, therefore not many software vendors may support it in the future.
  • The AMD A4-5300 is priced 65% lower.

  • The CPU has Hyper-Threading feature, which doubles the number of threads that the CPU can process simultaneously.
  • The i3-3225 is 15% more energy efficient.

A4-5300 vs i3-3225 specifications comparison

The charts below show the difference between Intel i3-3225 and AMD A4-5300 most important characteristics. These features, along with an IPC (instructions per cycle) number, determine how well a processor performs. The "Number of cores / threads" graph displays the number of cores (darker area). Lighter area on the graph corresponds to the number of additional threads, provided by Hyper-Threading technology. The "Operating frequency" chart uses dark color for base frequency, whereas lighter area is for extra frequency, provided by Turbo feature. Darker area on the "On-chip cache" graph is for the On-chip L2 cache. Lighter area is for the L3 cache cache. Although the L3 cache cache is usually larger than the On-chip L2 cache, it is always slower.
