The 3DNow! technology helps the microprocessor to execute certain floating-point operations faster, and thus increase performance in games, that support the instructions. These instruction are obsolete now, and only some old games and software used them.
  • The AMD 415e CPU is 64% more energy efficient.
  • The official price of the 415e is lower than the price of the FX-8350.

  • The processor incorporates AVX, F16C, FMA3 and XOP instructions. Although these extensions are not broadly used by applications yet, their support should improve in future programs.
  • The CPU includes FMA4 instruction set extension. Only AMD processors have this technology, therefore not many software vendors may support it in the future.
  • The AMD FX-8350 has unlocked clock multiplier. Thus, the microprocessor can be easily overclocked on most motherboards to get higher performance. Be warned that overclocking can void CPU warranty.

Benchmarks

System setup

Below is a complete set of AMD Athlon II X3 415e and FX-8350 benchmarks from our CPU benchmark database. The former processor was tested on ASRock M3A780GXH/128M motherboard with 2 GB dual-channel Corsair CM3X1024-1333C9 DDR3 memory, and Powercolor 24PRO256M DDR2 (ATI Radeon HD2400). The latter processor was tested on ASUS Sabertooth 990FX motherboard, that had 4GB dual-channel Crucial BallistixPC3-14900 (DDR3-1866) memory, and MSI R6670 1GB GDDR5 (ATI Radeon) graphics.

All tests were performed at default frequency and voltage, using manufacturer's stock fan/heatsink. None of the components were overclocked. Motherboard BIOS options were left at default settings.

The results of all benchmarks are broken into four categories: multi-threaded, single-threaded, memory intensive and graphics / gaming.


Athlon II X3 415e vs FX-8350 single-threaded benchmarks

Single-threaded benchmarks run on a single CPU core, and do not depend on such features as the number of cores, or Hyper-Threading technology. Additionally, they do not utilize on-chip caches, dedicated to other cores.
