  • The AMD FX-9590 incorporates more processing cores than the Intel Core i7-3770K microprocessor. Large number of cores helps this CPU to tackle many simultaneous programs or threads.
  • Operating frequency of the AMD FX-9590 is higher than the frequency of the i7-3770K microprocessor.
  • The CPU features FMA3 and XOP instructions. These extensions are not extensively supported by applications yet, but their support should improve in future apps.
  • The processor has FMA4 instruction set extension enabled. Only AMD processors have this technology, for that reason it probably will not get broad support from software vendors.
  • Based on current official prices, the CPU is 8% cheaper.

Intel Core i7-3770K advantages

Intel Core i7-3770K
  • The microprocessor features on-chip HD 4000 GPU. While this GPU is not fast enough to play latest games at full resolution, it can be used for casual gaming and 3D applications.
  • The CPU is 65% more energy efficient than the FX-9590.

FX-9590 vs i7-3770K specifications comparison

The graphs below demonstrate the difference between Core i7-3770K and AMD FX-9590 most important characteristics. These features, together with an IPC (instructions per cycle) number, determine how well a processor performs. The "Number of cores / threads" graph displays the number of cores (darker area). Lighter area on the graph corresponds to the number of additional threads, provided by Hyper-Threading technology. The "Operating frequency" chart uses dark color to represent base frequency, whereas lighter area is for extra frequency, provided by Turbo feature. Darker area on the "On-chip cache" graph is for the On-chip L2 cache. Lighter area is for the L3 cache cache. Although the L3 cache cache is usually larger than the On-chip L2 cache, it is always slower.
