AMD Opteron 6380 advantages

  • The AMD Opteron 6380 has many more processing cores than the AMD 4184 microprocessor. Large number of cores helps this processor to tackle multiple processes or heavily multi-threaded programs.
  • The CPU has SSSE3, SSE4.1 and SSE4.2 instructions enabled.
  • The 6380 microprocessor includes AES technology, that provides AES encryption acceleration. The technology is valuable if you need to secure your disk or network data.
  • The CPU features AVX, F16C, FMA3 and XOP instructions. While these extensions are not widely used by applications yet, their support should improve in future apps.
  • The processor supports FMA4 instruction set extension. The FMA4 technology is only offered on AMD microprocessors, therefore not many software vendors may support it in the future.
