Benchmarks

System setup

Below is a partial set of Intel Core i5-3570K and i5-4670K benchmarks from our CPU benchmark database. The former processor was tested on ASUS P8P67 motherboard with 2 GB dual-channel Corsair TR3X3G1600C9 DDR3 memory, and MSI R6670 1GB GDDR5 (ATI Radeon). The latter processor was tested on Intel DH87RL motherboard, that had 2 GB dual-channel Corsair TR3X3G1600C9 DDR3 memory, and MSI R6670 1GB GDDR5 (ATI Radeon) graphics. For different system configurations please see tests of Core i5-3570K and i5-4670K CPUs in our benchmark database.

All tests were performed at default frequency and voltage, using manufacturer's stock fan/heatsink. None of the components were overclocked. Motherboard BIOS options were left at default settings.

The results of all benchmarks are broken into four categories: multi-threaded, single-threaded, memory intensive and graphics / gaming.

Core i5-3570K vs i5-4670K single-threaded benchmarks

Single-threaded benchmarks run on a single CPU core, and do not depend on such features as the number of cores, or Hyper-Threading technology. Additionally, they do not utilize on-chip caches, dedicated to other cores.

Core i5-3570K vs i5-4670K graphics benchmarks

Graphics benchmarks depend on the type of integrated or discrete graphics adapter, and to less extent on the processor performance. Because these benchmarks are synthetic, they may not truly represent gaming performance. However, they still can be used to estimate whether one processor will perform faster or slower than another CPU in games and other 3D tasks.

Well this is a load of rubbish.. Haswell less energy efficient than Ivy bridge? I think someone has been slightly misinformed...

Response: The CPU is less energy efficient under load, because Intel integrated VRM on the chip. It has lower idle power, but the comparison is for the maximum power consumption. Total system power consumption could be the same, though, but I can't confirm it.
