  • The Core i5-3550 incorporates many more CPU cores than the Pentium M 1.2 GHz processor. Large number of cores helps this microprocessor to process multiple threads or processes at once.
  • Operating frequency of the Core i5-3550 CPU is higher than the frequency of the Pentium M 1.2 GHz microprocessor.
  • The Intel Core i5-3550 supports Execute disable bit feature, that can protect from certain kinds of computer viruses. This technology does not work on older operating systems, such as Windows 2000, MAC OS 9, and earlier ones.
  • The Intel Core i5-3550 has Intel 64 feature, that allows it to run 64-bit operating systems. 64-bit OSes are not limited to 3 GB or 4 GB of memory. Plus, they also run slightly faster.
  • Incorporated Virtualization technology enhances performance in virtualization programs.
  • SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4.1 and SSE4.2 instructions are enabled on this CPU.
  • The Core i5-3550 has Advanced Encryption Standard technology enabled. These instructions provide hardware acceleration of AES encryption and decryption, and are useful if you need to secure your disk or network data.
