The Katmai core was introduced on Feb 26, 1999. This core is based on P6 microarchitecture.

New core features:

  • 133 MHz Front Sub Bus
  • SSE instructions

Pentium III processors with Katmai core can be identified by:

  • Part number: part number contains "80525P", "80525U" or "80525H".
    An example: 80525PY550512.
  • CPU ID: First two digits of CPU identification numbers of Katmai processors are "67". Please note that Pentium III Xeon microprocessors with Tanner core have the same CPU IDs.
