AMD Ontario core

First microprocessors with Ontario core, C-Series C-30 and C-50, were introduced in January 2011 at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Two weeks after that, AMD launched several Ontario CPUs for embedded applications. The core is based on Bobcat micro-architecture, and combines from 1 to 2 CPU cores, single-channel DDR3 memory controller, and graphics controller in one chip. Main features of Ontario are ultra-low power consumption, and high-performance 2D and 3D graphics.

New core features:

  • Integrated graphics controller
  • Supplemental SSE3 instructions
  • C6 core and package low-power state
  • Numerous low-level power-saving enhancements

AMD microprocessors with Ontario core can be identified by:

  • CPU ID: All Ontario-based parts have CPUID 500F10. As a note, this CPUID is also used by Zacate microprocessors.

The table below shows all AMD families with Ontario core.
