Extended Memory 64 technology (EM64T) / Intel 64

Extended Memory 64 technology, renamed in 2006 to Intel 64, is a set of extensions that allows the CPU to run as a 64-bit microprocessor. EM64T/Intel 64 is a clone of AMD64 technology. Although there are minor differences between both AMD and Intel technologies, almost all 64-bit applications and operating systems will run on 64-bit Intel and AMD microprocessors.
