Intel 80486 Memorabilia

i486SX: Room for the future with built-in upgradability

This key chain is supposed to have a die of Intel 486SX processor. The die looks exactly the same as 80486DX die in a keychain below. Either this is a die of 80486SX engineering sample (some of them had disabled FPUs), or it's a die of 80486DX processor.

Quality and Technology: Intel486 Microprocessor

Front side of this keychain has "Intel Inside" logo. Back side of the chain has a die of 80486DX CPU. "Intel Inside" program was launched in 1991 - two years after the 80486DX processor was introduced. The die has approximate size 10mm x 16.5mm, that is about 165mm², and it was manufactured using CHMOS IV technology.

Quality and Technology: Intel486DX2 Microprocessor

Front side looks exactly as the keychain above. Back side has a die of 80486DX2 processor. Size of the die is much smaller than the die of 80486DX processor - about 7mm x 12mm, i.e. 84mm².

Intel A80486DX2-50

This really big keychain (2" x 2", or 5 cm x 5 cm) looks like as if it has a real 80486DX2-50 microprocessor inside. In fact, the front and back of the processor are printed on paper, while an actual chip die is glued to the paper. The size of the die in this keychain is the same as in the keychain above.

Intel Inside

This is the only 80486 keychain in collection that doesn't have rectangular shape. This keychain bears "Intel Inside" slogan on the front side, and a die of 80486DX microprocessor on the back.

The 486 Business Workstation - Intel486 Microprocessor

This keychain has the same silver-colored die (same size) as other 80486DX keychains on this page. On the bottom of the back side you can see not very well known Intel slogan: "The computer inside".

Intel OverDrive

Front side has a picture of boxed Intel overdrive processor. Back side has a die of overdrive processor. The die is not distinguishable in size and layout from gold-colored dies of 80486DX2 processors on this page.
