Last update of the year 2004. Just in time for this
update I received a batch of rare MP6
processors, so I didn't even need to make a decision what microprocessor
family to present today. From 6 new processors in the MP6 family 5
are engineering samples, and one is marked as "DS" (development
sample? design sample?). When I get time I will test all of them.
Enjoy the pictures. Happy New Year to all! |

I wanted to mention microprocessor
architectures pages that were not mentioned before in the site
news. I started putting architecture information pages in November,
and slowly but surely we already have 7 pages online. My goal is to
cover as many old processors/co-processor as possible, so stay tuned
- information for more processors will be coming next year. |

Today we had 2-hour downtime which was caused by excessive
resource usage, which in turn was partially caused by downloading
of the complete site contents by web spider software. Well, from now
on I'm going to limit access to the site to all web spider software,
spambots, page grabbers, offline readers and other software that download
huge number of files in short period of time. I installed a script
that detects web spider software and automatically bans it. The ban
is temporarily - if you get banned the access to the site will be
usually restored in 12 - 24 hours. |

I changed slightly the logic of the processor

I installed new processor
identification tool. It properly identifies 70% of all processors,
co-processors and microcontrollers on the site, it also identifies
some parts that are not on the site yet. It doesn't identify modern
processors (Athlon MP, Sempron, Athlon 64, Pentium II and higher,
etc) - these will be added next week. For chip identification the
tool uses information from CPU identification
pages, so don't expect the tool recognize something that is not
on those pages. The tool is till in beta stage, so if you find any
problems with it please post in the forum: http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=889
(registration is not required). |
